Wall Street Journal to launch metro section

The Wall Street Journal, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, is planning to launch a 16-18 page sec

Murdoch is reportedly planning to spend about $15m on the New York City bureau, which has already secured Bloomingdale's and Bergdorf Goodman as advertisers and is being referred to as "Project Amsterdam".

Many expect that this is well-laid plot by Murdoch to destroy the Times.

Since Murdoch bought the Journal for $5bn, he has done much to erase its image as a "second-read" business paper to a general interest news source.
