US media faces tough challenges, says report
Both traditional and new media at risk of unsustainable business growth.
The State of the Media 2010 report said that the US media is facing tough challenges despite the ongoing economic recovery.
Revenues of US newspapers, including their online versions, have fallen by 26 per cent and the industry has lost $1.6bn in annual reporting and editing capacity since 2000.
Advertising revenues of local television and radio fell by 24 and 18 per cent, respectively, in 2009, whilst magazine advertising revenue dropped 19 per cent. Television advertising declined by 7 per cent and online advertising revenue fell about 5 percent.
