The news headline sections of the sites' homepages now have a compact three-column structure with space for wider headlines and room for larger photographs.
The blue or white top bar menu consisting of many links has been replaced with a smaller and simpler white-and-grey menu.
Both the sites now have just four links -- news, sport, lifestyle and community -- in their main navigation menu. Each of these will offer a drop-down menu with several links to other news areas of the websites, which are now inviting reader feedback.
The group specified the website revamp in its end-of-year results published last week.
