Pearson appoints new director of digital products

Former NBC Universal executive Juan Lopez-Valcarcel to take role.

The media and education company Pearson has appointed the former NBC Universal executive Juan Lopez-Valcarcel to the role of director of global digital products and consumer technology.

He will oversee all Pearson's customer-facing digital products, while emphasising on mobile content and e-books.

Before coming to Pearson, Lopez-Valcarcel worked as vice-president and general manager of NBC Universal sites, iVillage and

Digital products accounted for 31 per cent of Pearson's income last fiscal.

Pearson had appointed Genevieve Shore to a new position of director of digital strategy last year. She will coordinate Pearson's digital strategy focusing on new digital products and services and digital partnerships with other companies.
