The disputed article appeared in the Daily Mail.
Blair claims the story was defamatory and alleged she had deliberately gone on a pheasant shoot to maintain close links with Saif Gaddafi, son of Colonel Gaddafi. She has been open in her opposition to blood sports and hunting and stated that the story attempted to depict her as a hypocrite. Further, Blair claimed that the story portrayed her behaviour as an outrage to the families of victims of the Lockerbie bombings.
London law firm Atkins has filed a writ on her behalf in the high court. Blair may claim damages of up to £50,000 and an injunction to prevent repetition of the claims at the centre of her action.
