M&C Saatchi to work on Conservatives’ election campaign

Advertising agency confirms it will work on forthcoming election.

M&C Saatchi became famous for their "Labour isn't working" slogan in 1979, widely seen as helping Margaret Thatcher to victory.

However their posters for the 1997 campaign, which depicted Tony Blair with demon eyes, attracted complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) after which M&C Saatchi's subsidiary, Immediate Sales Company, handled the party's advertising account.

A Tory spokesman was reported to have said although M&C Saatchi would be part of the campaign, Euro RSCG would remain their main advertising agency.
