News Corp to base Middle East operations in Abu Dhabi

News Corp's Fox International Channels (FIC) unveils plans to base the Middle East operations of its

The media and entertainment conglomerate will also open a documentary production office and move operations of some of its channels in the region to this new facility.

Fox International struck a deal with twofour54, a government-sponsored initiative which aims at establishing Abu Dhabi as a centre for Arabic content creation. However, the company did not disclose the size of the investment.

Rupert Murdoch announced this move ahead of the Abu Dhabi Media Summit.

The deal follows News Corp's investment in Prince Alwaleed bin Talal's Saudi Arabia-based television, music and digital media group.

FIC operates nine pay-TV channels in the Middle East. Fox has become the second-largest online media provider in the UAE and the third-largest in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
