The NYT's public editor, Clark Hoyt, debated the issue under the headline "Too Close to Home". He praised Bronner's journalistic integrity, but suggested that he should be given a "plum assignment" somewhere else during his son's service in the IDF.
Bill Keller, NYT's executive editor, responded by saying that Bronner would not be removed from the Jerusalem Bureau, though he acknowledged that there might be a potential conflict of interest.
