Restructuring at E.W. Scripps to affect 100 employees

E.W. Scripps Co. has said that over 100 employees will be affected by the planned reorganisation of

The company plans to centralise several functions in production, accounting, editing and information technology.

CEO Richard Boehne said the implementation of the plan had already begun with some areas seeing a reduction in headcount while others seeing an increase.

At the end of 2008, Scripps had 6,000 employees of which 4,100 were in newspapers.

Scripps has been talking about consolidation of functions that are not core to producing news content or advertising revenue.
