Jason Cowley has been shortlisted, with four other nominees, for the European Press Prize editing award.
The prize for journalistic excellence operates across all 47 countries of Europe.
It was founded in 2012 by seven European media organisations. The awards committee said: “Cowley has succeeded in revitalising the New Statesman and re-establishing its position as an influential political and cultural weekly. He has given the New Statesman an edge and a relevance to current affairs it hasn’t had for years.”
In 2011, Cowley was voted newspaper and current affairs editor of the year in the British Society of Magazine Editors awards.
