Ex-Met officer bailed over "payments"
Arrest came after information was provided to police by News Corporation's Management Standards Comm
A former police officer from the Met’s specialist operations command has been released on bail pending further inquiries following his arrest by officers investigating inappropriate payments.
The 57-year-old was held on suspicion of misconduct in a public office relating to the phone-hacking scandal yesterday.
Officers from the Met’s Operation Elveden arrested the man at his home at 6.30am yesterday before taking him into custody at a south west London police station and conducting a search at the property.
