The website of the Financial Times currently uses Google's first-click-free program. Under this, users can even read stories protected by paywalls if they reach it through Google News. However, they cannot access the story if they directly entered the website without subscribing to it.

Readers found a way to dodge the paywall by repeatedly searching for the headlines of paywall-protected articles in Google and reading it through the search engine links.

Now, says that its readers will not be able to read more than five paywalled-articles in a day, even if they googled the links. However, this new system will not affect people who read an occasional article on the, site. The website will adopt the new system in the second quarter.
