BBC Magazines managing director Peter Phippen has been named as the winner of the PPA's Marcus Morris Award 2011 in recognition of his services to magazine publishing.

The award recognises "significant and longstanding" contribution to the magazine publishing industry in the UK in honour of the late Morris, who launched Cosmopolitan and Company and died in 1989.

Phippen announced this week that he will step down from his current role when BBC Magazines moves to new ownership following the completion of the takeover deal between BBC Worldwide and Exponent.
