Former editor of FHM magazine's UK and US editions Ed Needham has been approached by Bauer Media to redesign the men's title and offer a fresh new look for the magazine's readers.
Bauer Media has handed out a redesign contract to Needham's online publishing company Grand Parade. As per the contract, Needham will redesign the opening section of the magazine, called Access, which contains features, news and letters. The other two sections of the magazine, Filter and Upgrade, will not be redesigned as of now.
FHM editor Colin Kennedy and Access section's editor Oly Richards, with the help of consultancy firm Grand Parade, will give the section a fresh new look to be unveiled in its March 2011 edition.
FHM had gone for a redesign in March 2010 also under the direction of Kennedy.
"It's a year since FHM was last redesigned and this project is in line with Bauer Media's ambition to regularly refresh its portfolio to ensure we connect audiences with compelling content whenever, wherever, and however they want," a Bauer Media spokeswoman said.
Needham was appointed editor of the British FHM in 1997. He moved to New York in 1999 to launch the title's US version. Later, he joined Rolling Stone magazine to become its managing editor and was subsequently hired by Maxim USA as editor-in-chief.
