Interweave launches two new e-magazines; 18 more in the offing
Senior VP said company would initially create the applications for the computer only and later adapt
Interweave is embarking on a major expansion drive on the digital platform with two new e-magazines launching this month and 18 more planned for 2011.
The publisher of art and craft magazines said SpinKnit was launched yesterday while Handcrafted Jewelry Studio will debut on 6 December. Both the e-magazines will be available at the Interweave store.
Earlier this year, Interweave launched digital editions of two other magazines Sockupied and Quilting Arts in Stitches.
The e-magazines, available for $14.97, run on Adobe's Air platform and can be downloaded directly to the user's MAC or personal computer.
Both the magazines incorporate scrolling slide shows, animation, "how-to-information" and social components. Handcrafted Jewelry Studio also boasts more than 40 minutes of video and eight step-by-step projects.
Meanwhile, the success of Interweave on the digital platform has prompted it to announce plans of launching 18 more such e-magazines in 2011.
Senior vice-president and publisher John Bolton said the company would initially create the applications for the computer only and later adapt the e-magazines for tablet devices in 2011 as they gain more market share and the technology evolves.
