Daily Beast-Newsweek brings Kathy O’Hearn on board as VP

Newsweek-Daily Beast editor Tina Brown has roped in Bloomberg BusinessWeek managing director Ciro Sc

Television news veteran Kathy O'Hearn has been named vice-president at the newly formed joint venture of the Daily Beast-Newsweek.

All her earlier stints were in the television news business. Earlier, she was at CNN where she served as executive producer of Campbell Brown's 8 PM programme and executive producer of Christiane Amanpour's show.

Prior to that, she was executive producer of 'This Week', which she left in 2008 to oversee ABC's special event politics coverage. She moved to CNN in 2009 and then became executive producer of the 8 PM programme.

Meanwhile, in an informal move, Newsweek-Daily Beast editor Tina Brown has roped in Bloomberg BusinessWeek managing director Ciro Scotti to be a consultant to the joint venture during its transition period.

A Daily Beast spokesman said Scotti will assist director of operations Rebecca Fox on logistics.

Senior correspondent for the Daily Beast Rebecca Dana is also understood to be in informal consultations with Brown on the future course for Newsweek.
