Stuff magazine declares Apple iPad 'Gadget of the Year'

Apple's tablet computer beat contenders such as Amazon ebook reader Kindle and Sky's new HD launch.

The US men's magazine Stuff has handed over to Apple iPad its "Gadget of the Year" award.

Magazine editor and judge Fraser Macdonald called the iPad "expensive and functionally limited", but added that it is also quite "gloriously indispensable" and only making itself more so with the increasing number of apps and accessories. "To see it is to want it, and that's why it's our gadget of the year," he said.

Apple's tablet computer beat contenders such as Amazon ebook reader Kindle and Sky's new HD launch to win the honours at the 2010 Stuff Gadget Awards.

The Stuff magazine publishes gadget and product reviews. Its annual awards recognise the best in consumer technology.
