Forbes Media has appointed publishing veteran Mike Perlis as president and CEO of the company, chairman and editor in chief Steve Forbes announced on Monday.
Perlis will take over executive duties from Steve Forbes and his brother Tim effective December 1.
Steve Forbes will give up the CEO title but will continue as chairman and editor-in-chief of the privately held Forbes Media while his brother, Tim Forbes, who has served as COO, will remain chairman of Forbes Digital and as a member of the board of Forbes Media.
Perlis previously served as general partner at SoftBank Capital where he focused on content businesses, including Beliefnet, Huffington Post, Associated Content, and Buzzfeed.
Perlis also served as president and CEO of Ziff- Davis Publishing, president of TVSM and president of the Playboy Publishing Group, besides serving as chairman and CEO of IDG Peterborough, the publisher of Gentleman's Quarterly.
"With the arrival of Mike Perlis, Forbes has been joined by someone who is a proven leader, with great successes in his impressive career," Steve Forbes said in a statement announcing the appointment.
