Jason Fine named Men's Journal editor

Rolling Stone executive editor will work with both magazines

Jann Wenner has appointed Rolling Stone executive editor Jason Fine to lead Men's Journal as well, thus drawing from the resources of parent company Wenner Media itself to replace Brad Weiners, whom he fired last week.

Fine was in charge of the music coverage at Rolling Stone, but has no experience in outdoor adventure writing.

However, Fine will not totally end his association with Rolling Stone, where he will have the title editor at large, the New York Post reported.

Rolling Stone managing editor Will Dana wrote in a staff memo that Fine will remain on the magazine's masthead as editor at large as he couldn't "quite conceive of editing Rolling Stone without his input."

Insider sources revealed that the staffs of Rolling Stone and Men's Journal might be brought closer together to cut costs, the New York Post said.

Brad Weiners, the Men's Journal editor for the past three years, was fired on November 12. Men's Journal had registered a 24.7 per cent gain on the newsstand in the most recent circulation reporting period.
