University of West of Scotland to launch magazine

Designers place "a great deal of emphasis ... on strong typography and high quality photography"

The University of West of Scotland is poised to launch an alumni magazine, entitled West, with a view to reaching out to and maintaining contact with recent graduates from the varsity.

Freight has named and edited the magazine. Mark Seager will be supplying photography for the title while Craig Bickett and Derick Carss are designing the first issue.

Carss pointed out that for any magazine to be newsworthy and relevant, its typography and photography must be of high quality.

"Graduates are young and have high expectations so a great deal of emphasis was placed on strong typography and high quality photography," he said.

The publication will be part of the communications profile of the university and will reflect its dynamism, Carss added.

The magazine, featuring university news, features, graduate profiles and lifestyle content, will be released at the end of November.
