Heat apologises to Kylie Minogue over water diet claim

Minogue hits out at media report as "not only untrue but irresponsible".

British magazine Heat has apologised to Australian pop star Kylie Minogue for publishing an "untrue" report which suggested that she was surviving on a water diet in an effort to slim down.

Under the headline "Kylie Minogue Apology", the magazine stated, "We now know this story to be untrue and wish to apologise to Kylie."

The magazine had claimed that the 42-year-old singer was drinking nothing but water flavoured with freshly squeezed lemon or lime, and eating just one small low-calorie meal a day.

It also claimed that the Australian pop star had dropped a dress size by subjecting herself to the extreme water diet to prepare for appearances on Dancing with the Stars and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the US.

Kylie hit out at the magazine publishers via her Twitter account last week, saying, "OMG ... media reports that I am on a water diet are not only untrue but irresponsible. No, no, NO!!!!!"
