New magazine launched for politicians and councillors

Elected will be released monthly and sent free to every elected politician in the country.

Publisher Public Matters has launched a new magazine for politicians aimed at promoting best practice and innovation in public services.

The first three editions of the new monthly magazine, Elected, will be sent free to every elected politician in the country, including 650 MPs, 22,000 local councillors and every member of the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh and London Assemblies.

After that the magazine -- which was launched last week by Matthew Taylor, chief executive of the Royal Society of Arts, and communities and local government secretary Eric Pickles -- will be available via subscription.

Alex Klaushofer, a freelance social affairs journalist, will edit Elected from issue two.

Matthew Huggins, Elected's publisher, said: "We know how daunting service improvement can be, particularly for councillors who undertake their duties in their spare time.

"That's why Elected matters: it cuts through the baffling jargon and brings vital knowledge and best practice to elected members, who take the decisions and bear responsibility for improving and transforming public services.

"We want Elected to be the premier resource for elected members doing the job the public elected them to do: representing their interests, running their services and delivering value for money".
