Hachette Filipacchi names new CEO

Steve Parr will replace Alain Lemarchand at the end of the month.

Alain Lemarchand, chief executive of Hachette Filipacchi Media US, will be leaving his position at the end of the month. He will be replaced by the former president of Source Interlink Media and Primedia Enthusiast Media, Steve Parr.

Lagardere Active, the parent company of the soon to be rebranded publisher, said the decision to bring in Parr was the "next step in a multi-year plan." Last week, it announced the corporate rebranding of Hachette Filipacchi to HFMUS, with a new logo.

According to the company, Parr will be responsible for increasing the market share of all of Hachette's brands. He will also oversee digital development of its online fantasy business game Jumpstart Automotive Group and its women's magazines, which include Elle and Woman's Day.

Lagardere Active chief executive Didier Quillot in a statement said that Parr's strong track record and experience in publishing will be of great benefit to Hachette.

Lemarchand, who became CEO of Hachette in June 2008, will likely move to a new senior management portfolio within Lagardere Active, said the company.
