Wired’s iPad version sales to surpass print edition soon

The iPad edition has already sold more than 70,000 copies within nine days of its release on 26 May.

Sale of Wired magazine's iPad edition is likely to surpass that of the print magazine, the New York Observer reported on Tuesday.

The technology magazine sells about 80,000 print copies every month. The iPad edition has already sold more than 70,000 copies within nine days of its release on 26 May. Both the print and iPad editions are sold for $4.99.

"73,000 purchases of the Wired iPad app in first nine days. Should beat newsstand sales of print mag (ave. mid 80s) this month," editor-in-chief Chris Anderson tweeted on the microblogging site Twitter on Sunday.
