Adobe unveils new technology for digital mags

Interactive content could benefit advertisers in new digital viewer platforms.

Adobe Systems has unveiled a new digital viewer technology for magazines, the US financial website Marketwatch has reported.

The new technology allows readers to watch videos, slide-shows, 360 degree images and rotate content in vertical and horizontal modes.

California-based Adobe has developed the technology with inputs from technology magazine Wired, whose Reader application in the June issue was built using the digital viewer software.

The interactive features of the digital viewer technology promise advertisements that encourage readers to interact with each brand, benefiting the advertisers directly, said David Burkett, Adobe's vice president and general manager for creative solutions.

The digital viewer software, which will soon be available to all publishers, integrates with Adobe Creative Suite 5, allowing them to leverage existing workflow investments.
