Slate’s ad revenues surge 30 per cent

Ford, Mercedes-Benz USA and Acura sign on as advertisers.

The Slate web magazine has seen an impressive 30 per cent rise in ad revenue in the first quarter of 2010.

The Washington Post Company-owned Slate Group, that runs websites such as,, and had its ad revenue increase by 52 per cent in the same period. The company did not release dollar figures, only percentages.

Slate officials said brands such as Ford, Mercedes-Benz USA and Acura, which sponsored specific editorial packages earlier, have signed on in the first quarter as exclusive advertisers.

Slate is one of the oldest web magazines, launched back in 1996.
