GQ clarifies they sold 57,000 iPad apps, not 365

The magazine claims there was an increase in app sales during the iPad launch on 3 April.

There have been 57,000 purchases of the GQ iPad app since last December, and not just 365, as reported by MIN Online, a spokesperson for the magazine's publisher Conde Nast clarified on Tuesday.

"GQ told MIN that 365 copies of the December issue were sold in the months of March and April (after the magazine was off newsstands). That was left out of MIN's report. Additionally, there have been 57,000 purchases of the app since December - it is a combined iphone, ipad, itouch app," she said.

The spokesperson added that the company has no way of knowing how many GQ iPad apps have been downloaded as the men's monthly does not sell an iPad-only version of its app.

The magazine claims there was an increase in app sales during the iPad launch on 3 April, and then again when the 3G iPad was launched recently.
