Labour magazines aim to woo elderly Scots

The party has distributed 50,000 copies of Life and Living magazine to older voters in Scotland.

The copies, distributed to woo the OAPs to vote for Labour, are being given to senior citizens in key constituencies. The magazine features an interview of Chancellor Alistair Darling by the One Foot in the Grave star Richard Wilson. Wilson quizzes Darling about his "hugely stressful job" during the financial crisis.

Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray said the magazine scheme was launched because the country's elderly had been let down by the SNP government. He said the government had deprived the elderly of the free central-heating programme and free bus travel fund, and had abandoned the promise to support grandparents providing childcare for children under three.
