Time launches e-book celebrating 50 years of the contraceptive pill announced Thursday that Time magazine has released a short e-book to commemorate the 50th

The magazine's executive editor, Nancy Gibbs, has written the publication entitled Love, Sex, Freedom and the Paradox of the Pill. It will be exclusive to the Kindle Store for one year. Customers can download the book for $5.9 and read it on their Kindle, Kindle DX, iPhone, iPad and BlackBerry.

The book is expanded from a 3 May 1960 Time cover story on the contraceptive pill and traces its invention 50 years ago - right from the feminists searching for a way to liberate women from the fears of frequent childbirth to a doctor who was seeking a treatment for infertility and instead found a way to control unwanted pregnancy.

The book follows the attitudes of women towards the first form of contraception and its repercussions in recent years.
