Sex mags down by one-third; home mags triple: US survey
The number of home magazines has tripled between 2005 and 2010 in the US, while that of sex magazine
By New Statesman Published 17 March 2010The number of home magazines has increased from 294 last year to 337 this year, according to The Standard Periodical Directory published by US-based Oxbridge Communications.
Trish Hagood, president of Oxbridge Communications said that the drastic fall in the number of sex magazines showed that "the internet is a better medium for the sex category."
Home magazines recorded an impressive increase overall in the US, although popular ones such as Country Home, Southern Accents, Domino, Backyard Living and Metropolitan Home closed down last year.
