UAE launches environmental mag for children

The United Arab Emirates government will distribute Our Enivronment to schools nationwide.

The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Environment and Water launched a new environment magazine for children in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, called Our Environment. The 14-page magazine will be distributed to children in grades one to six in all schools nationwide.

The first issue contains a message from President Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan about the need to protect the environment. The other features cover topics such as the environmental projects in the UAE, tips on nature conservation, environment terminology and a feature which explains the legalities and provision of the ban on hunting turtles.

Speaking at the launch of the magazine, Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, said that the children's magazine would help the government "catch them young" and build awareness on environmental protection in the society. About 10,000 copies of the magazine will be issued during the first week of each month.
