Australian magazine publishers hope for a better year

Magazine readership shrunk 6.8 per cent to a readership of 38 million, compared with the previous ye

Australia's best-selling titles such as The Australian Women's Weekly, Woman's Day, NW and , have registered declines year-on-year but publishers say a quarter-on-quarter comparison is a better indicator because larger titles such as the Weekly, Woman's Day and That's Life did better.

Even Pacific Publications managed two of the five largest increases in the year. Women's Health was up 28 per cent and Better Homes and Gardens up 4.3 per cent.

Overall, the market pushed readership by 0.1 per cent in December compared with the September quarter.
