Michigan entrepreneur launches bike magazine for women

Doni Langon, a Michigan-based entrepreneur, has launched Throttle Gals, a magazine and a website for

The magazine gives practical advice for women about motorbikes. The launch issue features an illustrated guide to changing a tire and an article about custom fabricating body panels.

Langdon teamed up with artist Trish Horstman to create the logo and the design of the magazine.

Unlike traditional motorcycle magazines, Throttle Gals reportedly features women as fully-dressed, competent mechanics showing off the tough and sporty machines they have built and repaired for themselves. "These are real women," Langdon said. "Everyone you see is with her vehicle -- not a model and not someone in her husband's or her boyfriend's ride. It's her pride and joy."

The cover model Athena Ransom is the owner of motorcycle shop Vagabond Choppers in Florida. Women from Chicago, New York, Las Vegas and California are featured in the January 2010 issue.
