Circulation of US magazines dips: ABC
Circulation of magazines for both newsstand sales and paid subscriptions continued to fall in the US
By New Statesman Published 09 February 2010The circulation of 472 titles tracked by the ABC was down 2.23 per cent to 328.4 million from July to December 2009, compared to the same period in 2008. Better Homes and Gardens from the Meredith Corporation occupied first place with a circulation of 7.6 million copies a month. Reader's Digest has seen a 7.1 million monthly readership in comparison.
The popular TV Guide magazine from Open Gate Capital reached a 2.4 million mark. It witnessed a 26% decline in readership due to readers referring to program guides on their set-top boxes. Glamour from Conde Nast Publications was the biggest grosser at a 6.9 per cent increase in circulation (2.5 million) and 11 per cent increase in subscription base.
