By Staff blogger Published 23 February 2010The biography, published by Random House, is titled "The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama." It will track Obama's life from his days in Hawaii and Chicago to his entry into the White House.
The biography will be based on conversations with Obama, his family and his political rivals. Remnick has reportedly conducted exhaustive interviews with key figures in Obama's life to write the book, which also features letters written by Obama's late mother Ann Dunham to the president.
Remnick had authored a12,000-word article about Obama's campaign for the November 2008 issue of The New Yorker. He said the biography will be more than just a "pumped up" version of the article.
Remnick won the Pulitzer Prize in 1994 for his book Lenin's Tomb: The Last Days of the Soviet Empire. He has been the editor of The New Yorker magazine since 1998.
