Indus River floods increase Pakistan's woes

Punjab and Sindh provinces are feeling the full effects of the over-flowing Indus River as Monsoon devastation continues

Monsoon rainwater that has flooded the Indus River is pushing its way south through Pakistan.

Mohsin Leghari, a Member of Punjab regional assembly, explained of the helpless situation in which he and his people find themselves, "If it rains that brings misery and if it is sunny, then the sun brings misery. With all the water, the humidity level goes up so much that it becomes difficult to breathe. Their crops have gone, their livestock has gone, the infrastructure, the roads are gone".

Pakistan's meteorological service warned of floods in Hyderabad district, which could spread devastation further south in Sindh province. They also issued a "significant" flood forecast for Kalabagh and Chashma in Punjab.

The beautiful at one time Buddhist Swat valley has been returned to the stone age.

What a bloody mess,I hope the OIC put its hand in to its very deep pockets and helps them ,it is Ramadan!

But they will try to blame this on the West as usual.

The clerics will rave that its a punishment from Allah for them not being Muslim enough or for aiding the west. etc etc.

Truly sad.....

felix, on the contrary this is something they cannot blame on west. In fact many think even Allah is against them. Surely if both west and God is not happy, something basically is wrong. I do not believe in God, so I feel sorry for the millions. In Pakistan if you talk to anybody, they will say it is God's will and he will help them. It appears the help is coming from non Muslims. Obviously God helps nobody, may be he is dead.

It was not punishment of God but it was just an exam of those who remained safe from this flood and sorry to say instead of helping they started lotting the properties and start raping women of affected families

..Allah seems to be in a mosque and Muslim drowning mood at the moment..

As you appear to perceive this kind of disaster as Allah 'blessing' maybe that could accounts for the lack of Muslim aid, maybe they just dont want to interfere.

Maybe your coreligionist feel that Pakistan deserves it.

Its Allah's will.

If so, that is truly shamefully.

I would ask all Muslims to collect a vast amount of Aid for Pakistan and prove Rafia and I totally wrong.

Eating my words on this subject would be a real pleasure.

Raffia, If Allah is so great, why does he kill Muslims? How come those are supporting the hapless are infidels? Listen, God is dead. I can't imagine a god killing unlimited number of men, women and children, his own children. Even we humans try to spare our kith and kin. Like us, when you are in trouble do not pray, just work hard to avoid troubles.

Pakistan is a nation that refuses to change for the better. Majority of the people do not care about politics, current affairs or for their own betterment.

They live on very meager earnings and on what they have within their immediate surroundings. They are not bothered with development. What's the point of having a car if there isn't any road to drive around around? This is their mentality.

Moreover, they are not a homogenous society with so many ethnics squabbling amongst each other till the end of time.

Though many are religious and adhere to the religious teachings, many more do not.

They do not even care about law,order, rules, or protocols. Most of the daily activities are based on customs. Customs are hard to change.

As for their country Pakistan,they don't really have much patriotic feelings. Who would be proud of a country full of corruption, chaos,poor and with no viable future? They are just hopeless.

Therefore it is not surprising that they do not care about their environment and no provision for improvement of infrastructure, flood mitigation, irrigation for the farms.

Helping themselves?Oh,they have no thought of being self suffient or self reliance either. Pakistan is a large and harsh country without much natural resources.

The flooding and other natural disasters will render them helpless for they have never been prepared.

The US on the other hand just pumped in military aid without any intention to initiate economic development.

Let the Pakistanis deal with their own way of lives. They do not really need any help. They just need a very terrible lesson. But unfortunately knowing their mentality, they will never learn.

Allah is the greatest, he's our creator n loves his believers n never left them alone in any difficulty! it's all bcz of our sins n disobedience n he tests our patience n faith in him! n pakistanis r hopeful we never complaint Allah n we r patriotic too we love our beloved homeland n we r helping our people tht media is nt highlightng!

n u knw wht muslims will rule the whole world (it's said in Quran) when u non believrs will b in the hell!!

n saudi arabia hs donated 40karor rayals n u knw wht saudi arabia is at the 1st nmbr out of top 3 counteries who helped others in last 5years, actually we muslims dont show off whatever we do fr Allah!!

i'm proud of being a muslim n a pakistani!!
