Dental radiology service goes mobile

3D Imaging of the CSRA, a mobile CT Scanning service has introduced the new NewTom Cone Beam 3D Imaging, a new mobile dental radiology service which allows patients to be scanned at the dentist’s office. It is now available in Georgia and South Carolina.

The new service, an alternative to the traditional dental imaging centre, reportedly offers far less radiation than a medical CT scan.

The NewTom VG unit provides life-size, cross-sectional images of the mandible and maxilla to assess the quality and quantity of bone, and spatial orientation of critical anatomical structures for pre- and post-insertion of implant fixtures. Other applications include analysis for TMJ, Orthodontic, maxillofacial surgery as well as airway assessment essential for correcting obstructive sleep disorder.

On-site CB3D scans with immediate delivery to the doctor translates to faster service by the doctor while patients are exposed to 100 times less radiation when compared to a medical CT scan, said the company.
