The issue is who should interfere in the NHS. If Dr Fox is suggesting that senior medical professionals are the only people entitled to decide on the practices of the NHS, he is quite wrong. I would like to see him apply this to other, for example, coalmining industries. Second, if the elected Government cannot "interfere" then who should? Newspaper editors? TV commentators?
The NHS was brought about despite the resistance of the established professionals with their vested interests and their preference for a two (or more) tiered system.
