<p>Day two. Already it feels like I’ve been here for so long that I can’t remember what came before the Burma cyclone response. I’ve become so used to slipping my sandals off at the entrance to the office (where a small field of paired flipflops grows throughout the morning) that I was mortified to join an interagency meeting this morning where everyone kept their shoes on. </p>

<p>Less than twenty four hours ago I was in a different world – the shiny expanse of Bangkok’s new airport, busy with sushi, hotspots, orchids, palatial lounges and themed cafés. Here in Yangon, everyone is focusing on recovery and survival, one step at a time.
