How can London cut crime?

Crime is falling but much needs to be done to make London safer. We need Safer Neighbourhoods Teams on duty around the clock. We should invest in high-visibility policing, not more CCTV. We need to improve witness protection and take action on racist and anti-gay crime.
We need to get many more police officers engaging actively with local communities. To get guns and knives off our streets we need to rebuild trust with communities.
Violent crime, robbery, and sexual offences have all risen in the past 8 years. We need more police on our streets and public transport. We need to cut the time they spend filling in forms, we need to strengthen neighbourhood policing, and work with communities to tackle gang violence.
Crime has fallen every year for five years. To continue this trend I will increase police numbers by a further 1,000.
