enXco breaks ground on 205.5MW wind project in Minnesota

Energy firm starts construction on 20,000 acre windfarm.

enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, has started construction of a 205.5MW wind power project in Minnesota.

Developed and owned by the company, the project spans an area of approximately 20,000 acres of farmland near Lakefield in Jackson County.

The Lakefield project consists of 137 units of GE 1.5MW turbine with the capacity to generate clean renewable energy for more than 68,000 homes.
Indianapolis Power & Light will purchase the electricity generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The Minnesota Public Utility Commission approved the power project in September 2010.

The renewable energy project is expected to be operational in the Fall of 2011 and represents enXco's ninth wind project developed in Minnesota.

enXco develops, constructs, operates and manages renewable energy projects throughout the US.
