Drilling of third Brunei exploration well begins: Kulczyk Oil

Kulczyk Oil Ventures has commenced drilling a third well in Block M Brunei Darussalam

Kulczyk Oil Ventures (KOV) has said that the drilling of Mawar-1 onshore exploration well has commenced.

The well, its third in Block M Brunei Darussalam, has an initial target depth of approximately 1,300m.

A minimum of two wells will be drilled there during 2010 by Kulczyk Oil and its joint venture partners.

The well is being drilled as a deviated well to test multiple sandstone objectives within the Middle to Late Miocene Belait Formation.

The well is being drilled by the MB Century Rig 104 and is expected to take approximately 25 days to drill.

The partners in Brunei Block M and in the Mawar-1 well are KOV Borneo (36%), Tap Energy (Borneo) (39%), China Sino Oil (21%) and Jana (4%).
