The tie-up will involve integrating SPP's photovoltaic (PV) solar panels with Solectria's grid-tied inverters to meet growing demand for solar energy in North America. This will enable customers to take advantage of net-metering to offset the cost of purchased electricity.
In net-metering, customers feed back into the utility company power grid the solar electricity that is produced beyond what they can use. The amount of power fed offsets their monthly electricity consumption or charges.
This can result in a considerable amount of cost savings for the customer in energy costs.
