The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) reported the rise, saying the number of house sellers has hit its highest level since May 2007.
The monthly survey of the housing market revealed that more home owners are putting their houses up for sale, as political uncertainty results in increased selling activity, raising fears that the recovery in the property market may be coming to an end.
The Rics survey reported a 6 per cent increase in the average number of properties on the estate agents' books last month to touch around 67 per surveyor. It suggested that the recent trend has been upwards, with 21 per cent more estate agents reporting growth in the number of house sellers.
