Speculation was rife that Terra Firma, which owns EMI, was planning to sell the studios that were made famous by a Beatles album. The rumours had even sparked a Facebook campaign to save the studios.
Last year, Terra Firma had reportedly rejected a £30m bid for Abbey Road. The studios have been losing money for many years.
However, reports suggest that the public outcry against the sale has made EMI change its mind.
English Heritage had proposed a plan to protect the music heritage site. The government advisory body has also recommended that the studios be granted Grade II listed status.
EMI reportedly plans to "revitalise" the studios by injecting fresh capital into it.
