Online newspaper site is continually expanding according to figures.

Mail Online continued to expand its lead on the other UK national newspaper websites in January, leaping up 56 per cent year on year to a new global monthly total of 56 million browsers a month - according to ABCe.

This follows a print circulation figure for January which was also up year on year, by 0.77 per cent to an average of 2,136,568 copies a day.

It is now well ahead of second-placed Guardian.co.uk and third placed Telegraph.co.uk.

Mail Online has now been the top UK national newspaper website for more than a year and looks uncatchable at present.
