Twitter on Tuesday announced that it will integrate new content from five companies onto its details pane to let users view multimedia content without leaving the microblogging service.

iPhone photo sharing app Instagram, web show platform Blip.tv, online radio company Rdio, powerpoint share platform Slideshare and music networking site DipDive will be among the 20 companies that will embed their photos, video, music, slides and more into Twitter.

Clicking on a tweet with a link to photos, videos and music currently lets the user view the embedded media from partner sites such as video-sharing site YouTube, Flickr and Ustream.

"Now you can also hear iTunes song previews and share music with your friends by linking your Twitter account to Ping, iTunes' new social network for music," according to a note in a Twitter blog post.

The social networking site said it will add more media companies on its panel soon.
