Daily Mail's website Mail Online has the second-largest web audience of any newspaper in the world after NYtimes.com, says a report released by online metrics firm comScore last week.
More than 32 million people visit the British newspaper's site every month. "The great thing about the internet is that you can be late in and still catch up very quickly," the site's publisher Martin Clarke told the New York Times on Sunday.
The site's show business and television coverage drew 15.3 million visitors in October, compared with 14.9 million for the news sections, the comScore report added.
The site has been particularly popular among women, who account for 60 per cent of its visitors, compared with 46 per cent of overall web users worldwide, the report said, adding that celebrity news fetches the most hits to the site.
