The survey, carried out by the Donald W Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri, also added that readers enjoyed reading the newspaper on the iPad and that they are likely to cancel a subscription to the print version within six months of subscribing to the newspaper on the Apple tablet computer.
About 10.7 per cent of the readers said they had already cancelled their subscriptions in favour of the iPad version.
Around 84.4 per cent of the survey's 1,600 participants said they use their iPad to read breaking news. Another 89.2 per cent said they used a PC to read news.
