YouTube uploads 35 hours of video a minute

50,400 hours added daily

YouTube uploads about 35 hours of video to the site every minute, according to a company blog post last week. That translates to 50,400 hours added every day.

The number stood at 24 hours of video every minute in March. YouTube's decision to increase the time limit from 10 minutes to 15 minutes per video has contributed to the growth in video uploads, the Google-owned video-sharing company said.

Users are apparently finding it simpler to quickly add videos - up to a file size of 2 GB - to the site with help of mobile phones. YouTube said more companies are increasingly contributing to its growth by integrating YouTube's APIs to support uploads from outside of the video-sharing site.

Google video sites, led by YouTube, served videos to more than 143 million unique viewers in July and had more than 1.8 billion viewing sessions, market research firm comScore reported in August.
